What you'll learn

  • How to start a timed exam
  • What happens when the timer reaches zero
  • How to use your results to plan your next session

Knowing the work is one thing β€” answering under time pressure is another. Timed exam mode lets you practise both, so the real test feels familiar.

Start a timed exam

  1. Open a quiz.

Go to My Quizzes in the sidebar and open the quiz you want to practise.

  2. Press Start timed exam.

Choose how much time you want. A good rule of thumb is about one minute per question, or match the time you'll get in your real exam.

  3. Answer the questions.

A countdown timer stays on screen while you work. Answers and explanations are hidden until you hand in, just like a real exam.

  4. Submit, or let the timer run out.

Submit when you're done. If the timer reaches zero, your answers are handed in automatically β€” anything you didn't answer is marked wrong.

  5. Check your results.

See your score, how long you took, and an explanation for every question.

Make the most of your results

  • Press Review my mistakes to retry just the questions you missed. It's free and doesn't use a credit.
  • Questions you got wrong are added to your Review deck automatically, so they come back over the next few days.
  • Take the same exam again in a few days and see if your score and time improve.
Tip: Treat it like the real thing β€” put your phone away, close other tabs and don't look at your notes. You'll get a much more honest picture of what you know.
Good to know: Exam mode is free on every plan and works on any quiz you own.
