Four ways to start a quiz

When you open Create Quiz in the sidebar, you'll see a source switcher at the top. Pick the one that matches what you have in front of you:

SourceBest forPlans
Notes / files Pasting your class notes, or uploading PDFs, Word (DOCX), PowerPoint (PPTX), TXT files or photos of your notes β€” up to 5 files per quiz Pasting notes: all plans. File uploads: Starter & Pro
Topic When you don't have notes yet β€” just type something like "Grade 11 photosynthesis" All plans
Web page Articles, study guides or Wikipedia pages Starter & Pro
YouTube video Lessons and explainer videos (the video needs captions) Starter & Pro

Step by step

  1. Sign in and open Create Quiz.

It's the first item in the sidebar. New accounts get 5 free AI quiz credits to start with.

  2. Choose your source.

Tap Notes/files, Topic, Web page or YouTube video in the source switcher.

  3. Add your content.

Paste your notes, attach your files, type a topic, or paste the link to the web page or video. Longer content is trimmed to your plan's character limit (15,000 on Free, 30,000 on Starter, 60,000 on Pro).

  4. Generate the quiz.

Press the generate button and watch the live progress as the AI reads your content, picks out key concepts and writes the questions. This uses 1 AI quiz credit.

  5. Check and edit the questions.

Your new quiz opens automatically. Use edit to fix wording, change the correct answer or remove questions you don't need. Editing is free on every plan.

  6. Take it!

Start the quiz, answer each question and see your score straight away β€” with an explanation for every answer.

Tip: Want more or fewer questions every time? Go to Settings β†’ Preferences and change your default questions per quiz and question type (multiple choice, checkboxes, true/false or a mix). You can also pick the number of questions for a single quiz from the menu next to the Build button. The maximum is 25 questions on Free, 100 on Starter and 200 on Pro.

Tips for better quizzes

  • Focus on one chapter or section at a time β€” smaller, focused quizzes are easier to learn from.
  • For a topic quiz, be specific: "Grade 12 Life Sciences: DNA replication" works better than "biology".
  • Photos of handwritten notes work best when they're well lit and the page is flat.
  • Pro accounts use our Advanced AI model for sharper questions and better explanations.
Good to know: If generation fails, your credit isn't used. Credits are only taken once your quiz has been saved.
